OSP: pick-up truck struck semi while trying to pass on U.S. 250

SCIO, Ohio -- Two men were killed in a collision on U.S. Route 250 in Harrison County on Wednesday morning.

The crash took place around 7:15 a.m. near Tappan Lake. According to the State Highway Patrol, an unloaded flat-bed tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound and was turning onto State Route 646, when 43-year-old Charles Arbuckle of Dennison attempted to pass the semi truck on the left as the truck was turning left.

Arbuckle's pick-up struck the semi, causing the backhoe the pick-up truck was hauling flipped on top of the cab, killing Arbuckle and his passenger, 39-year-old Jeremy Hidey of Sherrodsville.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. An investigation is ongoing.
