Belmont County businesses indicted on drug charges

Two carry-outs "nuisances" for selling synthetic marijuana

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio – The owners of two Belmont County businesses declared nuisances for selling synthetic marijuana were indicted by a grand jury on Thursday.

The two businesses in question are the Shadyside Party Center and Bob's Cheap Smokes in St. Clairsville. On Thursday, both owners appeared in a Belmont County courtroom to face their arraignment following separate indictments.

Robert Grimmett, owner of Bob's Cheap Smokes, has been charged with aggravated possession of drugs with forfeiture specification.

Stacey Heathcote McCabe, owner of the Shadyside Party Center, faces two counts of aggravated trafficking with four specifications for forfeiture of money/property and another charge of aggravated possession of drugs with specifications for a major drug offense and two more for forfeiture of money/property.

These indictments come on the heels of state and national warnings regarding synthetic drugs. Law enforcement and lawmakers alike, have dubbed them a very dangerous, new problem.
