According to the State Highway Patrol, 58-year-old Wayne Owczarek was traveling northbound on Fairground Road at around 10:00 p.m. when he crossed the center line and drifted off of the roadway. Owczarek's Geo Tracker crossed through a ditch struck two fence posts, returned to the ditch and continued onto Fogle Road. Troopers say Owczarek was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled over, and was pinned beneath the Tracker when it came to rest.
Crews from the Antrim Volunteer Fire Department extracted Owczarek from beneath the vehicle before transporting him to Southeastern Med in Cambridge. The State Patrol told AVC News on Monday night that Owczarek remains in stable condition at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. The nature and extent of his injuries was not made available.
State troopers say its unclear what caused Owczarek to lose control of his vehicle. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
