Sheriff: drugs, alcohol not a factor in weekend crash

CALDWELL, Ohio -- A Dexter City native was killed in a single-vehicle crash earlier this week in Noble County.

Sheriff Stephen S. Hannum told AVC News that 34-year-old Josey Lee Clark was southbound on State Route 564 early Sunday morning when he exited the left side of the road, drove over an embankment and through a ditch before striking a large, landscaping rock. The vehicle came to rest in a driveway, the owners of which called authorities.

Sheriff's deputies and crews from United Ambulance responded to the scene in Enoch Township to find Clark unresponsive. The Noble County Coroner declared him dead on the scene.

Sheriff Hannum said that foul play is not suspected, and neither drugs nor alcohol are thought to be a factor. An investigation into the crash is closed.
