MARTINS FERRY, Ohio -- A Democratic candidate for a seat in Congress will be hosting an oil and gas forum in Belmont County on Tuesday, July 29.
Jennifer Garrison told media outlets on Monday that the forum will include panelists such as elected officials and residents from Belmont, Columbiana, Jefferson, Harrison, and Monroe Counties. Garrison, who is the founder of the Southeastern Ohio Landowners Association, will also participate as a panelist.
The forum will be held at Martins Ferry Middle School, and opens at 7:00 p.m.
Panelists will discuss topics that include road safety and use, impacts to first responders, and the environmental impacts of disposal wells. Participants will also discuss broader themes that explore long-term challenges and opportunities of the region, specifically the severance tax.
Garrison will take on incumbent Congressman Bill Johnson for the seat in Ohio's Sixth District in November.
