Local businesses, oil/gas company donate for police dog

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio – Thanks to donations from area businesses and an oil gas company, the Barnesville Police Department has a new K-9 Officer.

The department's first K-9, Dixie, is on duty. New K-9 officer Ben Neuhardt says Dixie's role within the department will be steadfast. Neuhardt added that Dixie will help directly combat the growing drug problem in the Ohio Valley, but will also be an educational asset when he takes her to speak about the dangers of drugs at local schools.

The purchase of K-9 Dixie was made possible through donations from Hess Energy, and local Barnesville businesses Chestnut Lanes Inc. and Boston and Son Construction.
