NOBLE COUNTY, Ohio -- An Ava woman who suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen over the weekend is said to be in fair condition at a Columbus-area hospital.

A spokeswoman for Grant Medical Center told AVC News that 40-year-old Crystal Sklenar was transferred to the facility on Tuesday. Sklenar was first transported to Southeastern Med in Cambridge for treatment following an incident on Marietta Road on Saturday night.

The Noble County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the residence to find Sklenar wounded by a single shot to the abdomen. Present in the home at the time of the shooting were the victim's husband, 46-year-old John David Sklenar, and a minor child. Deputies said John Sklenar was reportedly found to be in possession of methamphetamine and was charged with a felony-five count of possession of drugs.

According to Sheriff Stephen Hannum, the entire incident remains under investigation. John Sklenar remains in custody in the Noble County Jail on $5,000 bond.
