Sgt. Dale Resor and Deputy Matt Terrell of the Guernsey County Sheriff's Office responded to a call for aid of a driver stuck in high water near Newcomerstown around 3:00am. Other first reponders got the woman out, but dispatchers then received a call from a woman saying her husband and son were trapped in high, fast-moving water near their cabin on
The deputies, along with firefighters from the Newcomerstown and Liberty Volunteer Fire Departments, waded out in hip deep water to the scene. The firefighters got the son out of the water quickly and then turned their attention to the father who was hanging onto a tree in a rushing torrent. The man said he couldn't hold on much longer as firefighters threw him a line. The man was able to get the line under his arms as both deputies and first responders pulled him in.
The father and son were treated for exposure and then released.
