Football HOF Finalists Selected

CANTON, Ohio (AP) - Former general managers Bill Polian and Ron Wolf were selected yesterday as contributor finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's class of 2015. Polian and Wolf were chosen by the Hall of Fame's contributor committee. Inductees will be selected on January 31st, the day before the Super Bowl, in Phoenix.

Cavs Lose Last Exhibition Game

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers - who played without Lebron James - 96-92 last night. Kyrie Irving led the Cavs with 16 points, while starting backcourt mate Dion Waiters added 15. Kevin Love finished with 12, while Joe Harris added 10 off the Cleveland bench. The loss was only the second of the preseason for Cleveland, which finished its preseason with a 5-2 record.

Bengals' WR Green Misses Practice

CINCINNATI (AP) - Injuries and missteps have turned the Cincinnati Bengals back into the Bungles. Receiver A.J. Green didn't suit up for practice again yesterday, leaving the team without their best receiver heading into a pivotal game on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.

BEREA, Ohio (AP) - Cleveland Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer says he's never felt worse after a loss in his career and understands that criticism "comes with the territory." Hoyer played poorly in Sunday's 24-6 loss at Jacksonville, completing just 16 of 41 passes. His shaky performance sparked buzz among some fans and analysts that popular rookie backup Johnny Manziel should take over.

Buckeyes Prep for Hackenberg

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - In college football, for Number 13 Ohio State to keep its winning streak going, the Buckeyes must find a way to hurry Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg. They certainly did that a year ago, sacking him four times and intercepting him twice in a stunningly one-sided 63-14 victory over the then-freshman. The teams meet again on Saturday night before a sellout crowd at Beaver Stadium.
