Associated Press

The Associated Press is the essential global news network, delivering accurate, insightful news from every corner of the world, 24 hours a day. Since its founding in 1846, AP has been the first to report many of history’s most important moments, and every day, AP journalists, photographers and videographers file news from the front lines of the world's biggest stories.

AP’s reporting, photography, audio and video are published and broadcast by the world’s leading newspapers, TV channels, apps, radio stations, websites and magazines—in fact, over half the world’s population sees AP news content on any given day.

As a leader in the field of journalism, AP fights for freedom of the press and the public’s right to know. Its reporters take great risks to file in-depth stories from countries where the press is otherwise restrained, and in the U.S., AP aggressively uses the Freedom of Information Act to advocate for transparency and accountability in government.

With more experience reporting and delivering news than any other agency, a well-earned reputation for independence and accuracy, and a fierce commitment to the people’s right to know, AP is the definitive source for trusted news.

ATHENS, Ohio (AP) - JD Sprague had 321 total yards and three touchdowns, A.J. Ouellette ran for a season-high 121 yards and two scores, and Ohio beat Ball State 48-31 on Tuesday night.

Sprague connected with Jordan Reid on two second-quarter touchdowns, of 7 and 60 yards, to give Ohio a 28-3 lead. Ball State scored on back-to-back possessions in the second half to get to 38-24, but Ohio had an answer each time - scoring on four straight drives.

Reid made four catches for 112 yards and two scores for Ohio (7-4, 4-3 Mid-American). Sprague was 15-of-22 passing for 275 yards and had 11 carries for 46 yards.

   Ohio had 607 yards overall.

Riley Neal passed for 247 yards with two touchdowns and ran for 62 yards and a score for Ball State (3-8, 2-5). KeVonn Mabon caught 10 passes for 139 yards and one touchdown and Jordan Williams added 78 yards and a score.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittsburgh Pirates have claimed reliever Guido Knudson off waivers from the Detroit Tigers.

The 26-year-old Knudson allowed 10 runs in five innings across four appearances for Detroit in 2015. The right-hander went a combined 1-2 with 11 saves, a 2.56 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 40 appearances between Double-A Erie and Triple-A Toledo this year.

Knudson was originally taken in the 28th round of the 2011 first-year player draft.

The move was announced on Monday.

CLEVELAND (AP) - The Indians have declined their $3 million option for next season on veteran outfielder Ryan Raburn.

Cleveland owes a $100,000 buyout to Raburn, who batted .301 with eight homers and 29 RBIs in 82 games this year. The 34-year-old was used mainly as a platoon player against left-handers. He becomes eligible for free agency.

Raburn signed with Cleveland as a free agent in 2013 after six seasons with Detroit. He batted .272 16 homers and 55 RBIs in his first season with the Indians, helping them reach the AL wild-card game. The club rewarded him with a two-year extension.

Raburn was injured throughout much of 2014 as he began the season dealing with knee and wrist injuries sustained when he ran into a wall trying to make a catch in a spring training game.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) - The absence of two veteran receivers and his go-to tight end won't change a thing for Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco.

Facing the Cleveland Browns on Sunday in an important AFC North matchup, the Ravens (1-3) will be without leading receiver Steve Smith and speedy Michael Campanaro, both of whom were injured last Thursday night in a win over the Steelers.

Tight end Crockett Gilmore, who has 10 catches for 151 yards and two touchdowns, missed practice Wednesday with a strained calf.

That leaves Flacco with less-heralded wide receivers Kamar Aiken, Marlon Brown and Chris Givens. The primary tight ends are rookies Maxx Williams and Nick Boyle.

Flacco says, "It's my job to see whoever the guy is that's open and give him a chance to make the catch."

Linebacker not expected to miss significant time
