Associated Press

The Associated Press is the essential global news network, delivering accurate, insightful news from every corner of the world, 24 hours a day. Since its founding in 1846, AP has been the first to report many of history’s most important moments, and every day, AP journalists, photographers and videographers file news from the front lines of the world's biggest stories.

AP’s reporting, photography, audio and video are published and broadcast by the world’s leading newspapers, TV channels, apps, radio stations, websites and magazines—in fact, over half the world’s population sees AP news content on any given day.

As a leader in the field of journalism, AP fights for freedom of the press and the public’s right to know. Its reporters take great risks to file in-depth stories from countries where the press is otherwise restrained, and in the U.S., AP aggressively uses the Freedom of Information Act to advocate for transparency and accountability in government.

With more experience reporting and delivering news than any other agency, a well-earned reputation for independence and accuracy, and a fierce commitment to the people’s right to know, AP is the definitive source for trusted news.

Browns Court McCown

CLEVELAND (AP) - A person familiar with the visit says free agent quarterback Josh McCown is meeting for a second day with the QB-deficient Browns.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity Wednesday because the team is not revealing plans during its quarterback search.
McCown was released last week by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have the No. 1 overall pick in this year's NFL draft.
The Browns have made finding a starting a quarterback a priority this offseason.
Brian Hoyer will likely hit free agency and Johnny Manziel checked into a rehab facility last month.
McCown went just 1-10 as a starter last season. He may not be much of an upgrade for the Browns, but could serve as a temporary fill-in if Hoyer leaves, Manziel shows he can start or the team grooms a rookie for the job.
McCown has also visited with Buffalo, Chicago and New York Jets.

Bailey Rehab Continues

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) - Cincinnati pitcher Homer Bailey won't be ready for the start of the season as he recovers from surgery on Sept. 5 to repair a torn right flexor tendon.
The $105 million right-hander said Wednesday he hasn't had any setbacks since arriving for spring training. Bailey has been limited to playing catch since he reported last week and is scheduled to throw off a mound for the first time on Friday.
Bailey's timetable has him returning to the rotation in mid-April. The Reds also need to replace starters Mat Latos and Alfredo Simon, who were traded during the offseason.

Jackets Switch Goalies

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled goaltender Oscar Dansk from their American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield, Massachusetts, while assigning goalie Anton Forsberg to the same club. The Blue Jackets also placed right wing Jack Skille on the injured list.
Skille will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery next week to repair a shoulder injury.
Dansk, who will serve as Curtis McElhinney's backup until starter Sergei Bobrovsky returns from a groin injury later this week, is  7-5-5 with a 3.46 goals-against average and .833 save percentage in 19 games with Springfield in his first pro season.
Forsberg is 0-4-0 with a 4.49 goals-against average and .866 save percentage in five games with Columbus.
Skille has six goals and two assists in 45 games for the Blue Jackets.
